KISCO’s R&D Centre is pursuing challenges and developing technological innovations to create new colors and develop functional, fine chemicals.

Since its establishment in 1971, KISCO has been continuously developing new dyes and established the first dye research institute in Korea in 1980. This has enabled KISCO to grow to become a leader in dye and organic synthesis research.

Through steady investment in R&D and securing excellent talents, KISCO has achieved world-class research results in the textile dye sector. Based on organic synthesis technologies, which are a core competency, KISCO’s business has been expanded to include ink and fine chemicals, including photosensitive materials, display/semiconductor materials and materials for food and pharmaceuticals. All products are developed and produced at the highest quality.

KISCO’s Research Institute is also working to develop and certify products that exclude environmentally regulated substances in accordance with recently strengthened environmental regulations.

KISCO Chemical Testing and Analysis Center

The KISCO Chemical Testing & Analysis Center has been accredited by the Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) in accordance with the recognized International Standard ISO/IEC 17025. KOLAS was established in 1992 and is administered by the Korean Agency of Technology and Standards. KOLAS is a signatory to both Asia-Pacific Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement (APAC MRA) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation Mutual Recognition Arrangement (ILAC MRA). As of 2019, APAC MRA consists of 46 accreditation bodies from 28 countries, and ILAC MRA consists of 102 accreditation bodies from 104 countries, thereby breaking down trade technology barriers and introducing technical standards among member countries through mutual recognition of accredited reports.

KISCO is accredited by KOLAS to conduct chemical tests for:

  • Color fastness to light, perspiration, laundering, water, sea water, chlorinated water
  • Detection of azo colorants, chlorinated aromatics, chlorinated phenols, formaldehyde, extractable heavy-metals, allergenic dyestuffs, carcinogenic dyestuffs, pH, chromium(VI) in textiles and leathers

In addition, KISCO’s labs are equipped with various analytical equipment including NMR, ICP-MS, LC/MS, GC/MS, to conduct a wide range of chemical tests related to the performance and safety of dyes, inks, electronic materials, foods and pharmaceuticals.

Technical support

KISCO’s technical support team is responsible for technical exchange and training alongside partners in more than 60 major textile countries around the world including Pakistan, Bangladesh and Vietnam, as well through KISCO’s subsidiaries in China and India.

Through both on and offline meetings with major end-users, the team are supporting the diverse needs of the textile/clothing market. In particular, in recent years KISCO has demonstrated compliance with the sustainability management policies of apparel brands and industry NGOs. By adhering to these policies KISCO has also been able to increase production efficiency through improvement of reproducibility and process optimization. A key outcome is that KISCO is able to support customers to reduce overall production costs such as water consumption and energy consumption per unit time.

The KISCO technical support team provides extensive technical information to textile yarn companies, clothing brands, partners and dyeing factories. It provides rapid access to information and technical data through online social media channels and offline promotional materials such as pattern cards, flyers, Technical Data Sheets and presentations.

The KISCO technical support team conducts various standardized color fastness tests certified by KOLAS. KISCO is equipped with a variety of automated and semi-automated experimental equipment that can reproduce on-site processes for printing, including permeation and continuous dyeing, for each fabric material and production process in the diversifying textile market. In addition, KISCO has facilities to quickly exchange and implement color information online and offline with dyeing factories and clothing brands.
